MULTI-LEVEL IMAGE PROCESSING SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3246542
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the processing system for multi-level image in which multi- level indication is attained by a data quantity as less as possible.
CONSTITUTION: A host computer 10 converts a received gray scale image into a raster image expressing multi-level by a predetermined intermediate spot pattern. The intermediate spot pattern is a pattern comprising picture elements capable of having only binary density and information for representing the intermediate gradation is imbeded in how to arrange the picture elements. Thus, the raster image expresses logically lots of gradation unable to be expressed by picture elements of binary density actually. A printer 20 receives the raster image from the host computer 10 and converts the intermediate spot pattern in the raster image into an output spot pattern comprising picture elements capable of having tri-state density or over and a halftone image actually expressing the multi-level is printed out.
