To prevent wear of grooves of a multiple grooved pulley contacting with wires, by forming the multiple grooved pulley wound with the wires of a hard material, and by forming a hard carbon film directly or through a middle film layer on a peripheral surface of the multiple grooved pulley.
A wire winding part 6 of multiple grooved pulley 3a 3b is formed of a hard material such as a cemented carbide, a cermet or a ceramics, while the wire winding part 6 of the multiple grooved pulley 3a 3b is formed with plural V-shaped grooves 2 at a prescribed pitch P. A hard carbon film 7a is formed on surfaces of the plural grooves 2. The hard carbon film 7a is black but has properties just like diamond. That is, the hard carbon film 7a has a high mechanical hardness, a low friction coefficient, a high thermal conductivity and high corrosion resistance like diamond, and further, high wettability to an oily or soluble grinding liquid.
