PURPOSE: To provide an extrusion type coating apparatus capable of uniformly applying a coating solution to a continuously running base film without generating thickness irregularity or a coating stripe under a wide range of a coating condition.
CONSTITUTION: In an extrusion type coating apparatus equipped with a coating head 1 having the injection port 3 of a coating solution 2 and a slit 6 emitting the injected coating solution to a continuously running base film 5 through a liquid sump part 4 and characterized by that the emitting slit 6 and the liquid sump part 4 are formed so as to have width almost same to that of the base film 5, a cylindrical free rotary body 7 of which the axial direction coincides with the lateral direction (b) of the liquid sump part 4 is provided in the liquid sump part 4.
