Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R is lower alkoxy-lower alkyl, lower alkenyloxy-lower alkyl, lower alkoxycarbonyl-lower alkyl, etc.).
EXAMPLE: N-n-propyloxyethyl-2,6-dimethyl-3-fluoroaniline.
USE: A synthetic intermediate for an anilide derivative useful as a herbicide.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting an aniline derivative of formula II with a halide of formula RX (X is halogen) in a solvent (e.g. acetonitrile) optionally in the presence of an acid acceptor (e.g. potassium acetate) at a temperature between room temperature and the boiling point of the solvent.
