PURPOSE: To obtain a nail enamel applicable easily to the nail, and giving a durable matte coating which can be removed easily with an enamel remover, by using a silica having a specific average particle diameter in addition to nitrocellulose, a resin, a plasticizer and a solvent.
CONSTITUTION: The objective nail enamel contains 5W25wt% nitrocellulose, 3W 15% resin (e.g. alkyd resin), 2W8% plasticizer (e.g. acetyl tributyl citrate), 60W 85% solvent (e.g. ethyl acetate) and 1W10% (preferably 4W6%) silica having an average particle diameter of 0.01W30μ (preferably 0.5W10μ). In addition to the above essential components, the enamel may contain flavor, pearlescent pigment, pigment, drug, moisturizing agent, UV-absorber, etc. The nail enamel can be applied directly to the nail or to the layer of conventional nail enamel.
