Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent a laminate tape from wrinkling and achieve a good quality by winding a cording around the periphery of the laminate tape, which is put longitudinally on a cable core immediately before a forming die, and causing the tape and the core to be in tight contacting.
CONSTITUTION: A laminate tape 2 is put longitudinally on a cable core 1, and a cord 4 is wound as initial turn on the periphery of this laminate tape 2 immediately before a forming die 3. One end of this cord 4 is secured by a cord fixture 5, while a weight 7 is fixed to the other end through a supporting roller 6 so that a certain tension is given to the cord 4. When advanced in the direction of arrow, the tape 2 is tightened by the cord 4 with specified tension so as to shape a cylinder, which can be put in tight attachment on the periphery of the core 1, so that no gap will be generated between the core 1 and tape 2. Accordingly the tape 2 is tightly attached on the core 1 automatically even in case the core outside dia. varies. Thus a high quality water shutoff layer can be achieved being free from wrinkles on the tape 2.
