PURPOSE: To obtain access performance near to a CKD (variable length format) disk by having information indicating the position of a leading count part existing after relevant block in each block in the case of emulating the CKD by an FBA (fixed length format).
CONSTITUTION: When data is recorded in each block, K part, D part succeeding to C part are written, thereafter, a cap equivalent to the sum of G among respective fields is written. Further, CP indicating the position of the data equivalent to the count part is present in the head of respective fields. CPA 49 shows the position of CA 42 and CPB 50 shows the position of CB 47. Thus, by that the CP is provided in each block, the retrieval and the read-out of the data equivalent to the C part is simplified.
