PURPOSE: To recycle polymeric wastes as an energy source by continuous thermal decomposition by applying thermal energy necessary for the thermal decomposition of the wastes from the top.
CONSTITUTION: Polymeric wastes can be continuously and thermally decomposed under condition in which the temperature distribution is optimized by providing a melting tank for performing only the melting of the wastes as the object of thermal decomposition by using the waste heat of thermal energy necessary for the thermal decomposition, feeding the molten polymeric wastes from the tank to an inclined pipe-like thermal decomposition tower, and applying energy necessary for the thermal decomposition of the molten wastes from the top of the tower. The optimized temperature distribution has an effect of minimizing the formation of carbides occurring in other conventional processes and of solving their disposal because only the thermal energy necessary for melting is applied to the melting tank. Because the thermal energy necessary for the thermal decomposition can be used without loss, the thermal efficiency can markedly be improved. Metals, inorganic substances, etc., which are not decomposed in the tower are sent to a decomposition gas collection pipe, separated from the gases and discharged from the system.
