Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a noise reduction circuit which can obtain an optimum limitter characteristic in accordance with the movement of an input signal.

CONSTITUTION: A timing signal generation circuit 9 generates a horizontal window signal HW with a horizontal synchronizing signal HD as a time reference and a vertical window signal VW with a vertical synchronizing signal VD as the time reference in the horizontal synchronizing signal HD and the vertical synchronizing signal VD, which are separated by a synchronizing separator circuit 8, and a screen is divided into N pieces. A movement detection circuit 10 obtains the quantity of the movement of the respective screens for respective divided blocks. A limitter circuit 7 is controlled for the respective blocks in accordance with the obtained quantity of movement so as to change a limitter characteristic.
