PURPOSE: To simply manufacture a transmission joint by providing three bearing races having two tracks consisting of components having a concave cylindrical bearing surface and a convex cylindrical bearing surface on a plane interacting with bearing needle roller, and by providing a journal on which an intermediate articulated member is rotatably mounted on a tripod arm.
CONSTITUTION: This transmission coupling comprises a tripod 14 having a joint body 12 and three equally spaced radial arms 16, wherein the arms 16 are made so as to have the shape of a cylindrical journal and rotatably receive intermittent articulation elements 18. The articulation elements 18 do not move relative to the journal 16 in the axial direction because of elastic rings 26. Two planes 20 interact with a row of needle rollers 32. The needle rollers 32 interact with plane portions 36 of tracks 38. The tracks 38 comprise convex cylindrical surface portions 40 having an axis parallel to the planes of the plane portions 36. The tracks 38 or the convex cylindrical surface portion 40 interact with complementary concave cylindrical portions 42 of the joint body 12. Therefore, the joint body 12 has a simple structure, and can economically be manufactured by, for example, forging and forming.
