Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a sex attractant containing, as active ingredient, (E,E)-11, 13-hexadecadienal having effective attractive activity for male Agrius convolvuli Linne, thus useful for the investigation of the outbreak/extinction of Agrius convolvuli Linne and controlling the insect pest.
CONSTITUTION: This sex attractant contains, as active ingredient, (E,E)-11, 13-hexadecadienal. This attractant is used for controlling Agrius convolvuli Linne belonging to Lepidoptera Sphingidae or investigating its outbreak/ extinction, affecting the environment little. The active ingredient presents by itself potent sex-attractive activity on male Agrius convolvuli Linne. This active ingredient may also be used in the form of a delayed release preparation to gradually release it into the air by making it either directly or in the form of an organic solvent (e.g. hexane) solution adsorbed on an appropriate carrier such as polyethylene plastic or rubber or by encapsulating it into a plastic capsule or capillary tube.
