Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a novel and improved electric connector assembly, for mutually connecting a modular telephone jack to a printed circuit board.
CONSTITUTION: A front-fitting end 14 has a plug-receiving slot 26 formed thereon, so as to receive a modular telephone plug, and a rear end 16 is constituted so that the edge 38 of a printed circuit board can be inserted in a first angle direction with respect to a housing means and rotated in a second angle direction. Further, a plurality of terminals 18 are mounted on the housing means, and each terminal 18 has a contact part 20 on the one end, a tail part 22 on the opposite end, and an intermediate part 24. The intermediate part 24 is fixed to the housing, the contact part 20 protrudes into a socket, so as to be engaged with the contact of the modular telephone plug. The tail part 22 is constituted so as to be engaged with a contact pad on the circuit board with a minimum contact force in the first angle direction of the printed board and with a considerable contact force in the second angle direction.
