Abstract:
PURPOSE: To adjust at a high accuracy by inserting a superconducting layer (control layer) between a prim. and sec. coils to regulate the mutual inductance of the transformer so as to make it controllable, depending on the superconducting characteristic esp., the London penetration depth of the superconductor layer. CONSTITUTION: A superconductor control layer StS is disposed between a prim. and sec. coils PS, SP. The London penetration depth λL of this layer StS is set to a value which allows the flux to freely pass through it, resulting in a very strong coupling between the prim. and sec. coils PS, SP. Decreasing the λL value limits the size of the flux passing through it and decreases the coupling between the coils PS, SP accordingly. If the λL is zero, the flux no longer can pass through the control layer StS but runs round it, resulting in a very small coupling. Thus, the λL is changed for changing the flux distribution, thereby making the mutual inductance adjustable.
