PURPOSE: To form an image of high quality and high contrast by bringing charge transfer regions into contact with each other to form circuit-like charge transfer paths.
CONSTITUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor 1 consists of a conductive base body 10, a charge producing layer 12 in contact with the base body 10 and an inhomogeneous charge transfer layer 14 (transfer layer with contact state of charge transfer particles). In this case, the charge transfer layer contains charge transfer regions surrounded by other region which does not transfer the charge, namely, which is inactive, and these charge transfer regions are in contact with each other. This structure can be obtd. by forming a inhomogeneous charge transfer layer 14 by impregnating inorg. or org. particles or crystals in contact with each other which can transfer charges with an insulating polymer. In order to produce the charge transfer layer 14 with contact state of particles, a binder which does not transfer charges, namely, which is insulating is necessary.
