PURPOSE: To provide the method for working a magnetic head capable of easily grinding air bearing surfaces within a microrange of an nm region in such a manner that the plane shape thereof turns to a convex shape.

CONSTITUTION: This method for working is applied to the magnetic head 1 which has a slider 11 and has the air bearing surfaces 111, 112 along the longitudinal direction of the slider 1 on the medium-facing surface side of the slider. While the air bearing surfaces 111, 112 of the slider 11 are brought into contact with a grinding surface 21 of a grinding surface place 2, the slider 11 is moved back and forth in an arrow direction ab along its longitudinal direction.
