PURPOSE: To obtain a mixed solvent compsn. which has excellent degreasing and cleaning characteristics and does not affect the ozone layer by mixing 1,1,1,2,2,3,3,4,4-nonafluorohexane and ethanol in a specified wt. ratio.
CONSTITUTION: 50-99wt.% 1,1,1,2,2,3,3,4,4-nonafluorohexane (A) and 50-1wt.% ethanol (B) are mixed to prepare a mixed solvent compsn. Preferred are a mixed solvent compsn. consisting of a pseudoazeotropic compsn. contg. 90-99wt.% component A and 10-1wt.% component B and a mixed solvent compsn. consisting of an azeotropic compsn. with 93.6wt.% component A and 6.4wt.% component B. An example of a suitable mixed solvent compsn. is one consisting of 50-98wt.% component A, 25-1wt.% ethanol and 25-1wt.% at least 5C hydrocarbon (e.g. methylcyclohexane). The obtd. mixed solvent has excellent characteristics which the conventional 1,1,2-trichloro-1,2,2-trifluoroethane has is suitable for degreasing and cleaning electronic parts, etc., and causes no environmental pollution.
