Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a hair root without using an infection technique by coating a fine particle of a metal with a DNA fragment containing a rol gene capable of inducing hair root and shooting the particle into a tissue to introduce the rol gene.
CONSTITUTION: A fine particle of a metal coated with a DNA fragment containing a rol gene (rol A, B, C, etc.) is shot into a plant tissue cell to obtain a hair root-inducing plant tissue containing the introduced rol gene. Hair root can be produced by culturing the plant tissue without using the infection with Agrobacterium. The process does not necessitate the Agrobacterium elimination treatment which is indispensable in the production of hair root by infecting with Agrobacterium.
