PURPOSE: To provide a drying apparatus with excellent thermal efficiency capable of drying veneer without the risk of causing nonuniformity of moisture content on drying, large cracks, warpages, and the like.
CONSTITUTION: The drying apparatus operates repeatedly alternately the conveyance of veneer 5 by conveyor belts 1,2 during the period of isolating a pair of heating discs A1-An and B1-Bn, and the heating of the veneer 5 through the approaching of a pair of the heating discs A1-An and B1-Bn during the period of stopping the conveyor belts 1, 2, wherein a multiplicity of elastically deformable small pressers 7 are buried in a manner being dispersed on the heating surface side of one heating disc A1-An, and besides, being capable of extending and retracting with respect to a heating surface (a). Even in the case where uneven thickness exists on the veneer 5, since respective small pressers 7 serve to bring the veneer 5 into engagement with the other heating disc B1-Bn closely throughout its entire surface, and restrain it evenly, in comparison with a conventional apparatus wherein engagement or restraint becomes unequal with respect to both of the pair of the heating discs when uneven thickness exists on the veneer, heat efficiency is generally improved, and defects such as nonuniformity of moisture content on drying, large cracks, warpages, etc., are decreased.
