Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a highly precise covered film where the adhesivity is improved and the performance suitable for the tool is provided not by forming a CBN film directly on a tool, but by interposing a mixed layer or an intermediate layer.

CONSTITUTION: Either of cemented carbide, cermet or ceramic is the base material of a tool. A covered film consists of a highest layer having the composition consisting of two or more kinds of CBN, hBN, wBN, amorphous BN, TiBN or TiN2, and one or two kinds of TiN, TiCN, TiC, TiO and TiCNO which is provided on the lowest layer having the composition consisting of TiN, TiCN, TiC, and TiCNO. The lowest layer of this composition is 0.2-2.0μm in the film thickness, while the upper layer is 0.3-2.5μm in the film thickness, and lamination is made between these two layers without containing the single substance such as metal or boron to make the whole thickness of the film in the range of 0.5-4.0μm.
