Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a laser glass which is more easily produced than a laser crystal, can be used for measurement, etc., as eye-safe laser and has high emission intensity at 1.9μm.

CONSTITUTION: This laser glass is a fluoride laser glass contg. 8-16mol.% Yb3+ and 2-10mol.% Tm3+ and further contg. Zr, Hf, Al, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Na, etc., as cations other than Yb, Tm and Ho and at least fluorine as anions. This laser glass is irradiated with semiconductor laser light of 0.98μm wavelength to emit laser light of 1.9μm wavelength.
