PURPOSE: To determine the displacement position of a blur prevention optical system unconditionally by a simple detecting means as to a camera which does not have the absolute position detecting means of the blur prevention optical system.

CONSTITUTION: The blur prevention optical system which prevents an image blur is supported movably at right angles to the optical axis of a main optical system. A driving range control means which controls the motion of this blur prevention optical system is provided. Driving means 30 and 31 which controls the driving of the blur prevention optical system according to the blur detection results of blur detecting means 60x and 60y are provided. Further, this device is provided with driving quantities detecting means 40x and 41x, and 41x and 40y which detects the driving amount of the blur prevention optical system by the driving means 30 and 31. Then this blue prevention optical system after being moved temporarily to the control limit position of the driving range control means before exposing operation is performed by the main optical system is put in centering operation up to a position aligned with the optical axis of the main optical system.
