PURPOSE: To predict a delay fluctuation for each VP(virtual path) set in an ATM(asynchronous transfer mode) network.
CONSTITUTION: The system is provided with an OA cell generating means 4 transmitting an OAM cell including passing queue number information from a transmission terminal station 1, a passing queue number information revision means 6 revising the passing queue number information in an OAM cell every time the OAM cell passes through a queue 5 in the network and a passing queue number information detection means 7 obtaining the passing queue number information of a VP from an OAM cell at a reception terminal station 3 to predict the delay fluctuation. Thus, the predicted delay fluctuation is used for controlling a delay fluctuation absorption buffer to suppress a delay applied by the buffer to a proper delay.
