To provide a multiplex structured porous body provided with a novel structure (that is, a multiplex structured porous body provided with a pore part (micro and macro pore diameter) having a relatively large diameter and a pore part (carbon nanotube(CNT)) having a small diameter on the surface of the large pore part) by applying a technique to form the CNT on the surface of an SiC structure and a method of manufacturing the same.
A dual structured porous body is manufactured by drying a gelated porous formed body formed by gelating bubble-containing ceramic slurry having hardly sinterable ceramic powder containing silicon carbide, degreasing and firing. The carbon nanotube is formed on the surface of the dual structured porous body by heating the porous body to remove silicon atom in vacuum. The resultant multiplex structured porous body 2 is provided with a ceramic matrix 4, the macro pore part 10, the micro pore part 20 and CNT 30.
