To provide a navigation system which can exhibit facilities, such as sight-seeing resources and places, etc., existing in the neighborhood of the route from the starting point to the final destination of the user.

This navigation system calculates the route from the starting point to the destination of the user, and retrieves the facilities such as the sight-seeing resources and places existing in the neighborhood of the calculated route. After retrieval, the system informs the user of the facilities obtained as a result of the retrieval by displaying the facilities on a display device. When the user selects some of the displayed facilities, the system gives the user route guidance by selecting the facilities selected by the user as transit places.
