Abstract:
To provide a navigator for vehicle and a route setting method by which the route along which the fuel consumption of its own vehicle becomes the smallest can be selected even when the route is unknown.
The fuel consumption of each route is calculated (S38) and the route along which the fuel consumption of its own vehicle becomes the smallest is selected (S40). Since the fuel consumption is calculated (predicted) by using a mathematical model expression for road condition (the method of least squares) and it is not required to collect data about the fuel consumption by actually running along each route, the route along which the fuel consumption becomes the smallest can be selected even when the route is unknown.
