To provide a navigator which can improve the accuracy of the calculated moving distance of its own vehicle.
In a navigator, an acceleration storing means 26 stores the acceleration data detected by means of an acceleration detecting means 22 and a pitch angle calculating means 25 finds the average value of a plurality of pieces of acceleration data stored in the storing means 26 and calculates the pitch angle of its own vehicle from the average value. A moving distance calculating means 28 corrects the acceleration data detected by means of the detecting means 22 by using the pitch angle, finds the speed of the vehicle by integrating the corrected acceleration data, and calculates the moving distance of the vehicle by integrating the speed of the vehicle. In such a navigation device, an average value calculating time deciding means 27 which decides the average value calculating time of the pitch angle calculating means 25 in accordance with the magnitude of the acceleration indicated by the acceleration data outputted from the acceleration detecting means 22.
