Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide good absorption of oxygen gas at a neg. electrode and enhance the overcharge characteristic with large current by constituting a neg. electrode plate from lead powder etc., and fine fiber, which presents unevenness at the surface and is treated for water repellence.

CONSTITUTION: A neg. electrode plate is constituted from lead powder 1 and fine fiber 3, which presents unevenness at the surface and is treated for water repellence. That is, only part of this fine fiber 3 contacts the lead powder 1, and a continuous space is produced along the fine fiber 3 in the aggregate of lead powder 1. In case an electrolyte 2 is impregnated, it intrudes to voids between the lead powder 1 to cause gaseous phases 5 to disappear, but the electrolyte 2 is repelled because the surface of the fine fiber 3 has been subjected to water repelling treatment, and gaseous phase 5 is formed to become gas dispersion passage to inside the electrode plate. Thereby absorption of oxygen gas can be inside the neg. electrode plate to lead to enhancement of oxygen gas absorbing capacity.
