PURPOSE: To improve current collecting properties.
CONSTITUTION: In the negative plate 1 of a cylindrical sealed alkaline storage battery comprising a conductive core body filled with cadmium active material, metallic cadmium is distributed more heavily over one surface side 1a of the conductive core body than the other surface side 1b of the body. As mentioned above, since metallic cadmium is so constituted as to be one sided in content to the surface side 1a in the negative plate 1, there exists much cadmium in one surface side, so that conductivity in this surface side 1a is much improved. Therefore, when a alkaline storage battery is so constituted that one surface of the negative plate 1 is brought into contact with the battery case for electrical connection, the battery can thereby be obtained, in which current collecting performance is enhanced, and discharge characteristics are excellent.
