Title:
NEURAL MODEL ELEMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3128386
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a neural model element for generating an electric oscillation signal by external stimulation such as light irradiation.
CONSTITUTION: The neural model element is constituted of an ionic solution 12, a resin-impregnating film 13 arranged in the solution 12 and having an ion pump and an ion channel embedded in itself and electrodes 16 for transmitting the film potential as an electric signal. The ion pump actively transports specific ions in the solution from one side of the film 13 to the other side by light irradiation to form film potential, and when a film potential difference between both the sides of the film 13 reaches a certain threshold, the ion channel is opened to cancel the film potential by passively transporting ions with the same code as that of the ions positively transported by the pump. Thereby when the element is irradiated with light, a process for generating film potential due to the active transportation of ions by the ion pump, and at the time of detecting the film potential, opening the ion channel to cancel the film potential and then generating film potential again by the ion active transportation of the ion pump is repeated, so that an electric oscillation signal can be generated.
