Abstract:
To allow supply of sufficient neutron flux by a compact apparatus.SOLUTION: A neutron supply apparatus 100 according to the embodiment includes: a neutron source 10 that contains a spontaneous fissile nuclide; and a subcritical system 20 arranged adjacent to the neutron source 10 to multiply neutrons by spontaneous fission. The neutron source 10 may include: a plurality of neutron source rods 11, arranged in parallel with each other, having a neutron source body containing the spontaneous fissile nuclide and a neutron source body cladding tube accommodating the neutron source body; a storage container 15 configured to store these and hold a coolant; and an inlet pipe and an outlet pipe connected to the storage container 15. The subcritical system 20 may include: a plurality of neutron multiplier rods 21 having, in a manner of being arranged in parallel with each other, a neutron multiplier member containing a fissile nuclide and a multiplier member cladding tube accommodating the neutron multiplier member; and a shield 22 arranged to surround the neutron source 10 and the plurality of neutron multiplier rods 21.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
