PURPOSE: To obtain new 1,4-dihydropyridine derivatives, having excellent durably overcoming action on the cancer and enhancing effects on therapeutic effects of a carcinostatic agent and useful as an overcomer for the resistance of cancer with low toxicity.
CONSTITUTION: Compounds expressed by formula I [R1 to R5 are H, OH, 1-3C alkyl, 1-3C alkoxy, NO2, etc.; R6 and R7 are alkyloxycarbonyl or alkylaminocarbonyl in which at least either has nitrogen-containing substituent group; R8 and R9 are H or 1-5C alkyl; R10 is aryl, aralkyl, etc.; X is CH2, O, etc.; (n) is an integer of 2-9] and its optical isomer, e.g. 3-methyl-5-[3-(4- methylpiperazino)propyl] 1,4-dihydro-4-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-2,6-dimethyl-l-(3- phenylpropyl)-3,5-pyridinedicarboxylate. Compounds expressed by formulas II and III (R11 is formula IV; R13 and R14 are alkyl having nitrogen-containing substituent group) in those expressed by formula I are obtained by reacting a compound expressed by formula V with a compound expressed by the formula R13OH or R14NH2.
