PURPOSE: To provide the subject new compounds useful as germicides.
CONSTITUTION: This compound is represented by formula I, e.g. α-[(Z)- methoxymethylene]-4-(phenoxymethyl)-5-thiazolemethylacetate. The compound is obtained by treating 5-halo-4-oxopentanic acid of formula II (X is Cl, Br) with phenol of the formula, Ar-OH thereby preparing 5-(aryl-oxy)-4-oxopentanic acid ester of formula III which is converted into silylated enolether of formula IV by function of trialkylchlorsilane of the formula, R3R4R5SiCl (R3 to R5 are each 1-4C alkyl) and subjecting the product to bromination and then to a reaction with the compound of the formula, Z1-CS-NH2 (Z1 is H, 1-6C alkyl) so as to obtain the compound of formula V which is condensed with dimethylformamide acetal and subjected to a hydrolysis and an etherification. In the formula I, Ar is (substituted) phenyl; A is H, Cl, trifluoromethyl, 1-6C alkyl(thio); R1, R2 are each 1-6C alkyl; exocyclic double bond has (Z) or (E) configuration.
