Abstract:

To alone a gene (DNA) capable of exhibiting high homology to a human FAT1(fat1) gene and MEGF1/fat2(fat2) gene from a cDNA library derived from a human fetal brain.

This DNA comprises a base sequence capable of encoding the following polypeptide (a) or (b): (a) a polypeptide comprising substantially the same amino acid sequence as the amino acid sequence represented by sequence No.1 (refer to the specification) or (b) a polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence in which a partial amino acid is deleted, substituted or added in the amino acid sequence represented by sequence No.1 and having the biological activity substantially homogeneous to that of the polypeptide (a), human fat1 protein or human fat2 protein or a polypeptide encoded with the DNA and a human fat3 protein containing the polypeptide.
