To obtain new ketones useful for feeling stimulating compounds, especially as precursors for fragrance, masking agents and compounds for antimicrobial agent.
The ketones are expressed by formula [Y is a (substituted)alkyl or the like; R1 is H, an 1 to 6C (substituted)alkyl; A is a chromophoric aromatic ring, a heteroaromatic ring or a ring system; n is an integer], the ketones exclude 2-ethoxy-1-phenyl-ethanone, hydroxyacetic acid 2-oxo-2-phenyl-ethyl ester, acetic acid 1-methyl-2-oxo-2-phenyl-ethyl ester and p- methoxyphenacylacetate or the like. The subject compound, for examples, p- methoxyphenacylacetate is obtained by dropping 4-methoxyphenacyl bromide to a methanol solution of potassium acetate, refluxing the obtained solution, cooling, adding water, extracting the aqueous layer with ether, washing the organic layer with water and drying, evaporating to dryness and recrystallization.
