To provide a method for the preparation of a layered double hydroxide exchanged with diisopropylamide (LDH-diisopropylamide) and a method for the production of aldols and the like.

The preparation method prepares LDH-diisopropylamide represented by general formula 1, [MI and/or MII(1-x)MIIIx(OH)2] [NCH(CH3)2-]x/2zH2O (wherein MI is a monovalent cation; MII is a bivalent cation; MIII is a trivalent cation; X is 0.10 to 0.50; and Z is an integer whose value depends on the reaction conditions). By using the LDH-diisopropylamide as a catalyst, aldols, α, β-unsaturated nitriles, α, β-unsaturated esters, transesterified products, β-nitroalkanols, Michael adducts, and epoxides can be prepared.
