Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a new compound usuful as catalyst for the cyanation of aromatic halides which can convert aromatic halides into aromatic cyanides in a good yield and less amount than that in the case of conventional catalysts.

CONSTITUTION: The compounds of formula I [R1 to R4 are each phenyl, heteroaryl; Y is metallocene biradical, α,ω-3-8C alkylenbiradical or the like; R5 is a 1-4C alkyl, aryl or the like; R6 is an aryl, heteroaryl or the like, however, if R5 is an alkyl, R6 is an alkyl, and if R5 is a (hetero)aryl, R6 is a halogen, (hetero)aryl], for example, diethyl(1,1-bis-diphenylphosphinoferrocene)-nickel is provided. The compound is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II (X is Cl, Br, I) with a compound of formula R7MgX or R7ZnX [R7 is a 1-4C alkyl, (hetero)aryl]. The starting compound of formula II is obtained by reacting a nickel halide with a diphosphine ligand of formula (R1)2P-Y-P(R1)2.
