Title:
NONAQUEOUS ELECTROLYTE SECONDARY BATTERY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3423169
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To retard the reaction of an electrode material with a nonaqueous electrolyte, suppress drop in cycle characteristics, suppress self discharge, and lengthen the storage life by constituting the electrode material with a disordered material and an ordered material having long distance order.
SOLUTION: An electrode material has structure selected from amorphous, microcrystalline, or polycrystalline structure lacking in long distance order, or combination structure of them, and is constituted with a disordered material and an ordered material having long distance order. Crystal edges reacting with an electrolyte are decreased compared with a negative material comprising ordered material having long distance order, and reaction with the electrolyte on the edge surface is suppressed. As a material capable of electrochemically absorbing/releasing an alkali metal ion, for example natural graphite with low crystallinity is used. A nonaqueous electrolyte prepared by dissolving lithium hexafluorophosphate as a solute in an equal volume mixture of ethylene carbonate and diethyl carbonate is used.
