Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide the nonlinear optical waveguide which is formed on an org. high-polymer material having high optical nonlinearity as a substrate and has cubic optical nonlinearity and quadratic optical nonlinearity. CONSTITUTION:The nonlinear optical waveguide which has a layer 12 contg. an optical nonlinear active material in a part or the whole of one or both surfaces of a transparent org. high-polymer substrate 11 and has the cubic optical nonlinearity and the nonlinear optical waveguide which has the layer 12 contg. the optical nonlinear active material in a part or the whole of one or both surfaces of the transparent org. high-polymer substrate 11 oriented in one direction and has the quadratic optical nonlinearity. The process for production of the nonlinear optical waveguide having the cubic optical nonlinearity which consists in diffusing the optical nonlinear active material into a part of the transparent org. high-polymer substrate 11. The process for production of the nonlinear optical waveguide having the quadratic optical nonlinearity which consists in diffusing the optical nonlinear active material into a part of the transparent org. high-polymer material 11, then orienting the optical nonlinear active material in the resulted org. high-polymer substrate in a specified direction.
