Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:1,6-Diisocyanato-2,5-dimethylhexane of formula.
USE: Raw material of polyurethane.
PREPARATION: The dimethyldiisocyanate of formula can be produced e.g. by reacting the hydrochloride, sulfate, phosphate, etc. of 1,6-diamino-2,5- dimethylhexane directly with phosgene in an inert solvent (e.g. benzene, toluene, methylene chloride, chloroform, ethyl acetate, etc.) at 60W230°C. The compound of formula is a non-yellowing aliphatic diisocyanate having low viscosity and low vapor pressure, and is useful in the field requiring the above characteristics.
