NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (n is 1 or 2; R is H or methyl).
EXAMPLE: (E)-3-(1,2-Dithiolan-3-yl)-acrylic acid.
USE: An immunological regulator effective for diseases under immunosuppressive conditions, e.g. infectious diseases or cancer, and further for diseases requiring immunological regulation, e.g. various allergies.
PREPARATION: 2,2-Dimethyl-1,3-dithiane-4-carboxylic acid as a starting raw material is subjected to several steps to give a novel compound expressed by formula 3, which is then reacted with a Witting reagent in a solvent to afford a compound expressed by formula 9 (R3 is lower alkoxy, etc.). The result compound expressed by formula 9 is then hydrolyzed with an acid or alkali in a solvent, e.g. tetrahydrofuran (THF), to give a compound expressed by formula 10, which is then oxidized to afford a compound expressed by formula 11. The resultant compound expressed by formula 11 is dissolved in a solvent and reacted in the presence of an acid catalyst to give the aimed compound expressed by formula 12.
