Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a phenol-modified resin which is suitable for a vehicle of an antifouling coating by reaction of an epoxy-or hydroxyl-containing rein with an adduct from a phenolic compound and a compound bearing carboxylic anhydride groups.
CONSTITUTION: The subject phenol-modified resin is obtained by reaction between (A) an epoxy- and/or hydroxyl-containing resin and (B) an addition reaction product from a phenolic compound and a compound bearing 1 carboxylic anhydride group. The resin product is preferably used as a vehicle for an antifouling paint.
