Title:
NOVEL RUTHENIUM COMPLEX HAVING AMINO ACID AS LIGAND AND ASYMMETRIC HYDROGENATION USING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3494549
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject novel transition metal complex that comprises a specific ruthenium complex having amino acids as ligands and can be inexpensively and industrially utilized as a catalyst for hydrogen-transferring type reduction reaction as asymmetric hydrogenation reaction.
SOLUTION: This compound is a novel amino acid-ruthenium complex and represented by formula I (R1 is H, a lower alkyl, methanesulfonyl, p- toluenesulfonyl, trifluoromethanesulfonyl, camphorsulfonyl, acyl, venzoyl; R2 is a lower alkyl; phenyl, benzyl, an aryl; R1 and R2 incorporate to form a heterocyclic ring; R3 and R8 are each H, a lower alkyl, a lower alkoxycarbonyl; X is a halogen) and is used as a catalyst for a hydrogen-transferring type reduction reaction to reduce an aromatic ketone of formula II [Ar is a (substituted) phenyl, (substituted) naphthyl] to convert to an optically active aromatic alcohol represented by formula III. This compound is prepared by reaction of L-(-)- proline with tetrachlorobis(p-cymene) diruthenium in a solvent.
