To provide an occupant protection device capable of appropriately restraining the forward movement and lateral movement of the upper body including the head part of an occupant seated in a seat, thereby protecting the occupant.SOLUTION: An occupant protection device 20 includes an airbag 30 which inflates in such a way as to be capable of protecting an upper body MU including a head part MH of an occupant MP seated in a seat 1. The airbag protrudes from a storage portion 22 disposed behind and above the occupant head part, and includes: a front side inflation part 32 which covers the front side of a region from the head part to a chest part MB of the occupant, and in which there are disposed, on a rear face, shoulder restraining faces 34 capable of receiving left and right shoulder parts MS of the occupant; and left and right side face inflation parts 40 which extend rearward and upward from both the left and right ends of the front side inflation part, and which are connected to and supported by the storage portion in such a way as to be capable of holding the front side inflation part. In each of the left and right side face inflation parts, there is disposed, on a rear side, a gas inflow part 42 into which inflation gas is caused to flow, and there is disposed, on a front side, a head part receiving part 46 with each of faces opposite each other as a head restraining face 47 capable of receiving the head part of the occupant upon lateral movement.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
