To easily operate a power supply by using an input device for performing recording operation even in the situation where it is difficult for a user to operate the power supply, and to prevent unnecessary data from being recorded in a case where operation is performed for turning off the power supply of an imaging apparatus.

A photographing apparatus including a first input device for turning on the power supply of equipment, a second input device for performing recording/photographing and a display device capable of displaying a caution or an acknowledgement. The photographing apparatus includes: an input control means for detecting a pattern of operating the second input device, and collating the detected pattern with a specific pattern registered in advance; a power turning ON means for turning on the power supply of the equipment in a case where the second input device is operated in the specific pattern; and a power turning OFF means which turns off the power supply of the equipment only in a case where the second input device is operated in the specific pattern, and does not record recording/photographing data obtained by operating the second input device at that time.
