To prevent a projected part of an oil level gage from contacting with a rotating crankshaft to prevent damage of the oil level gage, by making the projected part of the gage hardly oscillated along the direction approaching to the crankshaft under an operation of an engine even when receiving vibration of the engine.
The oil level gage 2 is provided with a torsion part 11, the gage 2 is guided by a gage guide pipe 1 when inserted into the gage guide pipe 1, and a wide surface 12 of the projected part 8 of the gage 2 is directed frontwards and its reverse face is directed rearwards in a condition where the gage 2 is mounted on the engine, supposing the shaft-length direction of an axis 14 of the crankshaft 13 as the longitudinal direction, in an oil inspection device for the engine wherein the gage guide pipe 1 is provided with a curved part 3 and wherein the oil level gage 2 is formed of a long elastic plate material.
