Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatize one side butt welding for a large size work having a curve surface and/or inclined surface and moreover to achieve high welding efficiency and high quality welding with a high electric current.
SOLUTION: The groove shape of the work 1 is made to be single V groove or Y groove, a standard root gap is made to be 0mm with a tack welding within the groove surface, a backing 3 is provided in the reverse side of the groove, the welding wire of 1.4-2.0mm in diameter is used, and one side butt welding is executed with the welding attitude from horizontal welding to 30° upward welding by means of the high speed rotating arc welding of the arc rotating speed 30-100Hz and the welding current 200-800A and further by the use of such an arc voltage that the short circuit generating ratio becomes 0.5-1.0 by controlling the height of a torch with an arc sensor.
