To provide an optical article having excellent abrasion resistance, and to provide a manufacturing method thereof.
In a spectacle lens 100, a hard coat layer 11, an anti-reflection layer 12 and an antifouling layer 13 are laminated in this order on the surface of a lens base 10. In the anti-reflection layer 12, low refractive index layers and high refractive index layers containing SiO2 as a main component are alternately laminated, and the anti-reflection layer 12 is constituted of five layers comprising a first layer 121, a second layer 122, a third layer 123, a fourth layer 124, and a fifth layer 125 in this order from the hard coat layer 11 side, wherein the first layer 121, the third layer 123, and the fifth layer 125 are low refractive index layers, and the second layer 122 and the fourth layer 124 are high refractive index layers. The low refractive index layers contain a nitride represented by SisOtNu. The anti-reflection layer 12 can be deposited by performing ion-assist vapor deposition while introducing nitrogen gas.
