To provide an optical cable that reduces transmission loss as well as preventing disconnection of optical fibers even when bending of the cable is caused.
Two pipe pieces 15a, 15b are bent nearly hemi-cyclically, with each end placed oppositely with a distance d apart, so that optical fibers 13 are stored and arranged in the circular inner space 17 formed inside. Then, the two pipe pieces 15a, 15b containing these optical fibers 13 are stored and arranged in a sheath 19. In the sheath 19, there are stored tension bodies 21a, 21b that are installed near the center part (y axis direction) of the two nearly hemi-cyclical pipe pieces 15a, 15b and that absorb a tensile force in the elongation direction. In addition, in the sheath 19, there are stored rip cords 23a, 23b that are installed in a manner hooking the two nearly hemi-cyclical pipe pieces 15a, 15b from the ends and that are used for the purpose of ripping the sheath.
