To provide an optical cable capable of reducing a transmission loss of a fiber optic wire in an optical cable in which a high-tensile body is disposed in a sheath.
The optical cable has an fiber optic 13 disposed between an inner layer intermediate 23a and an outer layer intermediate 23b, which are enclosed in a sheath 17. The high-tensile bodies 19a and 19b for absorbing tension in the stretching direction, and rip cords 21a and 21b for ripping the sheath 17 are laid in the sheath. The optical cable is so composed that the inner layer intermediate 23a and the outer layer intermediate 23b are twisted in the same direction, and the fiber optic 13 is twisted in the direction reverse to that of the inner layer intermediate 23a and the outer layer intermediate 23b.
