To provide an optical which is superior in handling such as easy separation of the tension member and whose coated optical fiber has no elongation strain even when the tensile force is applied to a tension member and a sheath.
The optical cable is formed by arranging hole parts 3 where the tension member 1 and coated optical fiber 2 are stored in the rectangularly sectioned sheath 4 side by side along the width and forming cuts 5 in the top surface and reverse surface of the sheath 4 along the thickness. The coated optical fiber 2 is stored in the hole part 3 with extra length. When the optical cable is used without being hung, or when hanging intervals are short, the optical fiber does not extend, so the extra length need not be given specially.
